HattKatts Vaccination Protocol
Our kittens are vaccinated following the protocol established by the American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP) and supported by The Cat Fanciers' Association (CFA). Before leaving our home our kittens are vaccinated against Feline Rhinotracheitis, Calici, Panleukopenia. Rabies is administered as required. Since our Conditions of Sale Agreement specify that our kittens are placed as indoor cats ONLY, any other vaccinations are unnecessary and not recommended by the AAFP. Many Vets may insist upon Chlamydia, Feline Infectious Peritonitis and/or Leukemia but the necessity for them has been disputed as being part of the protocol and are, rather, based upon the conditions and exposure possibilities of the individual cat. A house cat, not exposed to other cats outside the immediate household, has little to no possibility of ever being exposed to cats infected by those diseases and simply does not need to be vaccinated against them. Repeated, unnecessary vaccinations only increase the risk of developing a vaccination related sarcoma (VRS) which, in most instances, can be fatal.
